HIRE THE VENUE

The 86 is available throughout the year for private events, film & television location shoots, arts & corporate events as well as partner venue for local festivals including The Melbourne International Comedy and Midsumma Festivals.

The 86 layout ensures the punter is moved from the moment they enter the venue with big red velvet booths fitted opposite a oil mural of iconic Melbourne buildings on the 86 line, then moving onto a dimly lit boutique cocktail bar with scattered vintage crates shelving the liquor and highlighted by the light projecting off the exposed brickwork.  As guests pass the bar area they then enter the stage end of the venue, where dressed in a deep red velvet curtain is a raised stage with direct access from rear dressing room and the ability to present content in ‘cabaret’ style with guests seated at tables in front of the stage, to a more black box ‘theatre’ style setting with rowed seating, or even an open plan setting suitable for dance and dj presentations.  The venue is fully fitted out with sound & lighting with our in-house PA system including 22 channel stage core, DI’s, Radio mics, basic stage lighting, projector, as well the use of CDJ decks, along with a technician to ensure a seamless delivery of those elements.

We have fixed cabaret seating for 56 and can seat up to a total of 96 in a theatrical manner.

The venue may be used outside of usual trading hours, or occasionally can be hired for events that compliment our venue and supports the local LGBTIQ communities.  Film & TV shoots occur at the venue regularly as do product and service launches.
